Glo Looking to Shine in Straddie Lead Up
Talented Melbourne galloper True Glo will continue his preparation toward a possible crack at the $1 million Stradbroke Handicap in Brisbane on Saturday.

The Lee Freedman prepared son of Brief Truce is among the entries for the $125,000 BTC Sprint (1350m) at Doomben.

He was among 20 entries for the race. Other highlight entries include boom kiwi sprinter Falkirk, former Golden Slipper winner Victory Vein, Group One winners Bomber Bill and Miss Potential and other top performers including Scaredee Cat and Amex.

True Glo showed last start with a barnstorming win at Moonee Valley that he was on track for a trip north and a possible crack at Group One glory.

The gelding, already a proven Group winner in Brisbane and Sydney and stakes winner in Melbourne, has already been a runner up in two Group One races including a heartbreaking second to Titanic Jack in the Emirates Stakes at Flemington last November.

Freedman, like most racegoers, was pleased with the performance and said it was just what he "was looking for" when weighing up future plans.

"It was a pleasing performance," Freedman said. "He'll head north and hopefully he can get some luck up there."

The Hall of Fame trainer is currently stuck on 99 Group One wins in his career and he'll be hoping to break the historic mark in Brisbane.

If True Glo was to win a Group One race it would continue what has been a fairytale result for Freedman of a group of horses he bought at the one yearling sale.

True Glo was one of six yearlings Freedman outbid his rivals for at the 2001 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale at Morphettville. The others include outstanding triple Group One winner Mummify, Group winning mare Sweet Corn, multiple city winner Kalera King, outstanding Macau sprinter Elegance Champion (formerly Tomakomai, a winner first up in Macau last week) and Hong Kong winner Manifest.

The sextet have won a combined total of $4,710,646 in stakes - not bad considering the combined package cost just $254,000!

PICS - Quentin Lang.
