The sale topper from the 2003 Magic Millions January Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast is set for his first public appearance.

Pure Silence, who sold for $900,000 as a yearling on the Gold Coast, is among the entries for the Cranbourne trials on Friday.

Now in the stables of Victoria's leading trainer Lee Freedman, Pure Silence has just turned three and he is nearing his racetrack debut.

The colt by ill fated Japanese siring sensation Sunday Silence, Pure Silence was bred by John and Julie Singleton's Strawberry Hill Stud and purchased as a yearling by Vinery Stud.

At the sales in January last year Peter Orton, the Australian general manager of Vinery Stud, described the colt as a "really striking individual."

"He has a great stallions pedigree and he's a striking type," Orton commented when quizzed moments after buying the youngster.

The colt is from the Strawberry Hill Stud based Miner's Mark mare Engraver. She is a half sister to the international Group One winner Personal Business.
