Jockey Jeff Penza has returned from an overseas stint on the Island of Mauritius and is keen to get back on track in the NSW Country areas.

Penza didn't have much luck in Mauritius when his stable hit a quiet patch towards the end of the season but the time over there was very valuable to him as a rider.

Penza will ride at Cessnock on Monday and is working overtime to make a name for himself in the Country areas.

"It was very good experience for him in Mauritius and he was very happy to head over with his family, but now he is keen to settle back down in NSW," said Manager Greg Burke.

"He's been with me for three years now and has never let me down.
"He's a very conscientious and dedicated rider and I'm really pleased he's back home."
