Rail:
True.
RACE 1 : HITIDE HANDICAP
- 1250 metre
AIMUP (J Bowditch) jumped away
awkwardly and brushed with CENTALANTE (M Hoppo).
DENNING (C
Lindop) was slow to jump.
In the vicinity of the 200 metres
CORRIDOR (L Nolen) shifted out and inconvenienced CENTALANTE (M
Hoppo) and thereafter, in the vicinity of the 100 metres, CORRIDOR
again shifted out when improving onto the heels of GLEESON’S LANDING
(K Stra) and inconvenienced CENTALANTE. L Nolen was reminded of his
obligations when shifting ground.
D Dunn, the rider of INTOXICATING
RING, explained he was able to obtain a good position in running and
the gelding had settled as expected and was travelling well until
approaching the home turn when, in his opinion, he felt the gelding
was under pressure. He added, shortly after entering the straight,
from the 200 metres onwards, the gelding shortened its stride and
failed to maintain its position. INTOXICATING RING was examined by
the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported a lower than expected
heart rate.
Mr D Magick, the Trainer of AIMUP,
reported the gelding got its tongue over the bit and appeared
distressed on return to scale. AIMUP was examined by the Club’s
Veterinary Surgeon who reported AIMUP was exhibiting excess upper
respiratory noise. Mr Magick was advised the results of an
endoscopic examination and a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness would
be required before presenting the gelding for a future trial or
race.
RACE 2 : ULVAPRON HANDICAP
- 1450 metres
BANDINI (Damien
Holland) was slow to jump.
In the vicinity of the 600 metres
SEAFORTRESS (C Lindop) shifted out to improve and brushed with
EMPEROR’S SECRET (D Tootell), taking that gelding wider. C Lindop
was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground.
In the vicinity of the 500 metres
SILVER ZODIAK (S Price), which had attempted a run to the outside of
TOYS FOR THE BOYS (NZ) (L Nolen), became tightened for room between
TOYS FOR THE BOYS (NZ) and YARTERBERY (B Hoppo), which laid in and
away from SEAFORTRESS (C Lindop), which had rolled in.
BANDINI (Damien Holland) was held up
for clear running between the 300 and 200 metres.
SILVER ZODIAK (S Price) was
momentarily held up for clear running in the vicinity of the 200
metres.
YARTERBERY (B Hoppo) became
disappointed for clear running approaching the 200 metres and was
then held up for clear running until in the vicinity of the 100
metres.
RACE 3 : VANELLUS HANDICAP
- 1350 metres
Acting on a confirmed telephone call
and veterinary advice that RUSTIC OPAL was suffering from the onset
of a virus, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of that gelding at 9.30
am.
KING’S ARCH (D Tootell) over-raced
in the early and middle stages of the event.
CLEAR VIEW (B Hoppo) and WOMAN EYES
(K Stra) over-raced in the early stages of the event.
B Hoppo, the rider of CLEAR VIEW,
explained the mare raced a little keen in the early stages and
thereafter, in the vicinity of the 700 metres, he was unable to
improve around the field due to REGAL ALLIANCE (J Bowditch)
maintaining a tight line to his outside. He added the horse then
responded at the top of the straight but he was unable to maintain
his position over the concluding stages as he felt the mare was
short in her action and as a consequence he did not ride it out in
his normal manner. CLEAR VIEW was examined by the Club’s Veterinary
Surgeon who reported a lower than normal heart rate.
J Bowditch, the rider of REGAL
ALLIANCE, was reprimanded for making a celebratory gesture after the
winning post and his attention was drawn to the Stewards’ direction
in this regard.
RACE 4 : EASYSHIFT HANDICAP
- 2250 metres
In the vicinity of the 1200 metres
TRADESMAN’S CHOICE (K Stra), which had a tendency to over-race,
improved onto the heels of BURLEIGH (J Bowditch), shifted out and
contacted PIPKIN (D Dunn), which maintained its line, resulting in
PIPKIN getting its head up and racing ungenerously for a number of
strides and TRADESMAN’S CHOICE (K Stra) becoming unbalanced.
N. Smerdon, the rider of AQUILINE,
explained he had no specific instructions other than to allow the
horse to settle where it was comfortable. He stated the horse
travelled in a relaxed manner early and he was able to get a rails
run. He added thereafter the horse was off the bit and although
making some ground in the straight, did not respond in the manner he
expected.
P Roff, the rider of SLIPMASTER,
accidentally dropped his offside rein in the vicinity of the 100
metres.
RACE 5 : VISCO 3000 HANDICAP
- 1250 metres

during the event.
RACE 6 : DERMODY STAKES

The start of the event was delayed
approximately five minutes due to the bridle on SPARKLING NOW
breaking and having to be replaced when that filly reared on leaving
the mounting yard dislodging its rider.
GENERALLY (J Bowditch) blundered on
jumping away.
WILDLIFE GIRL (C Lindop), which
jumped away awkwardly, became tightened and lost its position, when
NOZI (S Leckey) shifted in and SEIDNAZAR (L Nolen) shifted out.
Approaching the 100 metres STRIKES
BACK (D Dunn) was forced to steady between NOZI (S Leckey) and
SPARKLING NOW (M Hoppo), which both shifted ground.
Over the concluding stages NOZI (S
Leckey) and SPARKLING NOW (M Hoppo) came together and brushed.
SEIDNAZAR (L Nolen) blundered near
the winning post.
J Bowditch, the rider of GENERALLY,
reported at scale that his horse dipped at the start and had a
tendency to lay both ways under pressure in the straight. He added
the horse felt uneven in its action. GENERALLY was examined by the
Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported the filly to be lame in the
off foreleg. Mr G Kennewell, the Trainer of GENERALLY, was advised
that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness would be required prior to
this horse’s next trial or race start.
SEIDNAZAR was examined by the Club’s
Veterinary Surgeon who reported bleeding from the offside nostril.
GENERALLY lost its off fore plate
during the event.
RACE 7 : CORSE PLUS HANDICAP
- 1450 metres
NEDRULLAH (S Price) was held up for
a clear run in the vicinity of the 400 metres for a short distance.
Correct Weight was delayed for this
event to allow S Leckey, the rider of the fifth placegetter CIVIL,
to view the official vision in the straight. After doing so S
Leckey lodged an objection against FAXED (C Lindop) being declared
the winner on the grounds of alleged interference over the final 200
metres. After taking evidence from all parties, on viewing the
official video film and acting on their own observations, Stewards
dismissed S Leckey’s objection as they were not satisfied the
impact of the interference suffered was sufficient to alter the
placings.
CIVIL (S Leckey) laid in, in the
vicinity of the 200 metres, shifted in and had to be steadied off
the heels of FAXED (C Lindop). Thereafter, inside the 100 metres,
CIVIL became disappointed between FAXED and ICELAND (J Bowditch),
which shifted in, and had to be steadied over the concluding stages
when FAXED rolled out and had to alter course to the inside of this
gelding.
NEDRULLAH, which broke through the
running rail near the 1200 metres subsequent to the event, dislodged
its rider S Price, was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who
reported abrasions to its nearside knee. S. Price was uninjured in
the incident.
RACE 8 : SUPER TOU HANDICAP
- 1000 metres
LA PALOMA (J Potter) jumped away
awkwardly.
Shortly after straightening
HAPHAZARD (C Lindop) shifted out and brushed with NEXT NOW (J
Bowditch).
Racing to the 200 metres NEXT NOW (J
Bowditch) shifted in taking HAPHAZARD (C Lindop) inwards.
KINGSTON SEA (B Hoppo) was forced to
steady for a number of strides over the concluding stages when FAIRE
MONTER (D Dunn) shifted out.
Correct Weight was delayed for this
event to allow C. Lindop, the rider of the third placegetter
HAPHAZARD, to view the official vision in the straight.
KINGSTON SEA was examined by the Club’s
Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities.
