Race 1 – Super vobis 3yo maiden plate  - 1000 metres:

Mr G. Hicks trainer of Katwalk Slam notified Stewards he wished to scratch the gelding as the truck transporting Katwalk Slam to the races had stopped to assist at an accident scene enroute to the course.   Mr. Hicks further explained that due to Katwalk Slam having its first start today he felt the gelding would be at a disadvantage due to arriving considerably late on course.  Acting on this advice Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Katwalk Slam at 11.00am. Spiceghetti Blue jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.  Shortly after the start Mad Mo and Majestic Nediym were hampered by Fantasy Time which shifted in.   Near the 600jm Golden Yield which was racing greenly was inconvenienced by Pace Ace which after being bumped by Mad Mo then shifted in away from that colt.  In the straight Majestic Nediym layed in.  Near the 200m B. Dunn rider of Mad Mo accidentally dropped her whip.  Approaching the winning post Majestic Nediym (M. Pumpa) shifted out and inconvenienced Father’s Joy.   M. Beyond Paradise jumped away awkwardly and lost considerable ground.  Near the 600m Duchess of Hazard and Gocup Road were hampered when tightened for room between He’s A Bird and Salute The Judge which shifted out away from Radiant River.  Near the 200m Brick Outhouse had to be eased when tightened for room by Beyond Paradise which when weakening shifted in.  After passing the 200m Della Grace had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Aunty Joy which shifted in away from Duchess Of Hazard.  N. Soquet rider of Gocup Road, 4th placegetter, was severely reprimanded and notified he must ride all of his mounts out to the end of the race.  Stewards were not fully satisfied his actions had affected the result of the race.  Subsequent to the event Stewards enquired into the reason for apprentice P. Lo rider of Brick Outhouse claiming an allowance of 3kg.   P. Lo explained that as today’s race book indicated a 3kg claim against his name, it was his understanding after inquiring with the Clerk of Scales that he was entitled to claim that allowance.  After taking evidence from Mr. K. Nicholson who was representing Mr. R. Smerdon, trainer of Brick Outhouse, and also taking evidence from Mr. R. Smerdon via telephone link up, it was established that P. Lo had claimed an incorrect allowance.  After taking all evidence into account Stewards under AR.92.(11) disqualified Brick Outhouse from the race and severely reprimanded P. Lo for claiming an incorrect allowance and further  notified him that it is his responsibility to claim his correct allowance at all times.

Lang who was representing Mr. D O’Sullivan trainer of Fersace regarding the change in riding instructions today compared to it’s previous two starts Mr. A. Lang confirmed there had been a change in riding instructions.  Stewards adjourned an enquiry into this matter as they wished to interview Mr. D. O’Sullivan.
