Mr G. Hicks trainer of Katwalk Slam notified
Stewards he wished to scratch the gelding as the truck transporting Katwalk
Slam to the races had stopped to assist at an accident scene enroute to the
course. Mr. Hicks further explained that due to Katwalk Slam having its first
start today he felt the gelding would be at a disadvantage due to arriving
considerably late on course. Acting on this advice Stewards ordered the
withdrawal of Katwalk Slam at 11.00am. Spiceghetti Blue jumped away awkwardly
and lost ground. Shortly after the start Mad Mo and Majestic Nediym were
hampered by Fantasy Time which shifted in. Near the 600jm Golden Yield which

Gocup Road, 4th placegetter, was severely reprimanded and notified he must ride
all of his mounts out to the end of the race. Stewards were not fully
satisfied his actions had affected the result of the race. Subsequent to the
event Stewards enquired into the reason for apprentice P. Lo rider of Brick
Outhouse claiming an allowance of 3kg. P. Lo explained that as today’s race
book indicated a 3kg claim against his name, it was his understanding after
inquiring with the Clerk of Scales that he was entitled to claim that
allowance. After taking evidence from Mr. K. Nicholson who was representing
Mr. R. Smerdon, trainer of Brick Outhouse, and also taking evidence from Mr. R.
Smerdon via telephone link up, it was established that P. Lo had claimed an
incorrect allowance. After taking all evidence into account Stewards under
