SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS FROM BTC, 20.8.205

Trainer A. Swindley advised stewards that ALIFLY had suffered a laceration to the near hind leg, which required veterinary attention.

Trainer P. Nolan reported that MUSTANG MAGIC had sustained a laceration to its tongue.

FROM GCTC MEETING, 20.8.05

Trainer M. Eggleston reported that a subsequent veterinary examination revealed FUR TRADER to be suffering from soreness to its back.

As S. Katsdis, J. Warrington, A. Pattillo and A. Best were indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards' Summary Sheet.

Race 1: Ambassador Travel 3yo Maiden Plate - 1400m.
1st - Line By Line 2nd - Guerrouj 3rd - Commentary 4th -Legal Jargon

CARICATURES (S. Galloway) was forced to race wide in the early stages.

Near the 700m., when CARICATURES obtained the lead, COMMENTARY had to be steadied off that horse's heels and as a result LINE BY LINE (G. Colless), which was following, had to be steadied.

Near the 400m., SUPREME COCKTAIL (K. Pope) shifted out to improve around the heels of LEGAL JARGON (P. Hammersley) and in doing so made contact with BARTIME (B. El-Issa).

Race 2: Toohey's Extra Dry Maiden Plate - 1200m.
1st - Muscle Up 2nd - Creole 3rd - Special Dawn 4th - Secret Donna

BARON SEATTLE, which became cast in the barriers, was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 1.53 p.m. No betting deductions were applicable. SNIPITOFF was also declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 1.54 p.m. Following the late scratching of SNIPITOFF, deductions of 22 cents in the dollar for win bets, 17 cents in the dollar for place bets applied. Trainer B. Baker was advised that he must obtain a barrier certificate for BARON SEATTLE prior to its next race start.

DIAMOND WAY (N. Jolly) jumped away awkwardly.

OVERDONE (T.Pannell) and MASAI PRIDE (B. El-Issa) came together on jumping away.

MISS TALKALOT (K. Pope) was tightened for room on jumping away between SOUND Of FREEDOM (K. Wharton) and QUESTION ME NOT (T. Treichel), which jumped inwards.

DIAMOND WAY (N. Jolly) commenced to hang out shortly after the start and did so for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination of DIAMOND WAY revealed the gelding to be shin sore in both forelegs. Trainer B. Brown was advised that he would have to provide a full veterinary clearance for DIAMOND WAY prior to its next race start.

Near the 200m., SPECIAL DAWN (G. Lynch) shifted in, taking SPECIAL ANTON (D. Green) in on to SHE'S ROCKING (N. Tomizawa).

MUSCLE UP (S. Seamer) and QUESTION ME NOT (T. Treichel) were forced to race wide for the majority of the event.

Race 3: Racetree Maiden H'cap - 1600m.
1st - Vettori's IMage 2nd - I'm So Blessed 3rd - Papunya 4th - Hula Chieftain

MACHI was declared a late scratching by stewards on veterinary advice at 1.27 p.m. after the mare sustained an injury en route to the course. Stewards advised trainer W. Klee that he would have to obtain a veterinary clearance for MACHI prior to its next race start.

N. Jolly was examined by the club's doctor after riding in race 2 and stood down from his engagement on UMAMEELA. D. Green was substituted as the rider of UMAMEELA. N. Jolly was advised that he would have to provide a full medical clearance prior to riding again.

HULA CHIEFTAIN (G. Lynch) and SIMPLY BLUE (J. Taylor) were slow to begin.

AIRLINE EXPRESS (C. Small) jumped away awkwardly.

KAZAK FLYER (S. Seamer) was tightened for room on jumping away between PAPUNYA (S. Galloway) and VETTORI'S IMAGE (D. Griffin), which shifted out.

Approaching the 1400m., KAZAK FLYER ran up on to the heels of BEARHART CHIC (N. Tomizawa) and had to be steadied. A short distance later, KAZAK FLYER had to be steadied again when momentarily tightened for room by I'M SO BLESSED (K. Pope), which shifted in.

Near the 1200m., KAZAK FLYER had to be checked when tightened for room by I'M SO BLESSED (K. Pope), which was taken in by AIRLINE EXPRESS (C. Small), which was inclined to hang in. In this incident, KAZAK FLYER shifted out and made contact with HULA CHIEFTAIN and as a result became further unbalanced. SIMPLY BLUE (J. Taylor), which was following, had to be steadied as a consequence.

VETTORI'S IMAGE (D. Griffin) was held up rounding the home turn.

POSE (B. El-Issa) was forced to race wide throughout.

Race 4: Gallipoli Research Foundation Class m.
1st - Madison King 2nd - Hot Anchor 3rd - Memphis Tenessee 4th - Lagerette

As G. Lynch was to be overweight on LAGERETTE and MONCHERO (Race 7), C. Small was substituted as the rider of LAGERETTE and N. Tomizawa as the rider of MONCHERO. G. Lynch was fined the sum of $200.

BIT OF MAGIC (J. Taylor) was held up for clear running on the home turn, and shortly after passing the 400m., when endeavouring to obtain a run to the outside of MAZACAR (S. Seamer), shifted out and made contact with MEMPHIS TENNESSEE (K. Pope).

DANKWILA (S. Galloway) was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Near the 300m., DANKWILA (S. Galloway) was placed in restricted room between BIT OF MAGIC (J. Taylor), which shifted out, and KERRI ANNE'S GIRL (L. Deguara), which shifted in. DANKWILA then shifted out and made contact with the hind quarters of KERRI ANNE'S GIRL, which became unbalanced and shifted in, further tightening DANKWILA and as a result had to be checked.

After passing the 300m., LOOK HERE TAY (D. Green), which was inclined to shift out, had to be steadied off the heels of LAGERETTE (C. Small).

Near the 250m., HOT ANCHOR (B. El-Issa) shifted out and made contact with LOOK HERE TAY (D. Green).

BETHPAGE BLACK (G. McKeon) had difficulty obtaining clear running for the majority of the straight.

KERRI ANNE'S GIRL (L. Deguara) and COPPER PENNY (K. Wharton) were forced to race wide for the majority of the event.

When questioned regarding the poor performance of BIT OF MAGIC, J. Taylor stated that the gelding travelled well in the early stages and had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight, however once obtaining clear running, the horse only finished the race off fairly. This explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination of BIT OF MAGIC failed to revealed any abnormality. A swab sample was taken from BIT OF MAGIC.

Race 5: Seppelt Wines Class 5 H'cap - 1400m.
1st - Common Knowledge 2nd - Lindalay 3rd - Filibeg 4th - Volkman

Near the 1100m., when being steadied, FORTUNE'S FRIEND (T. Treichel) shifted in and made contact with the running rail.

At the 300m., CANE CUTTER (C. Small) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MAXCAY (T.Pannell), which shifted out to improve.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of MERTHYR ROAD, J. Taylor stated that the gelding travelled well in the early stages but when placed under pressure shortly after straightening, MERTHYR ROAD failed to respond to his riding. Trainer R. Stephenson reported that MERTHYR ROAD would be sent for an immediate spell.

A veterinary examination of BUCK'S DREAM following the race revealed the gelding to be sore in the off hind leg and had lost both hind plates in running.

Race 6: Conrad Treasury Brisbane Class 3 H'cap - 1300m
1st - Rippa Royale 2nd - Little Darling 3rd - Special Degree 4th - Wild And Windswept

DIAMOND BULLET (B. El-Issa) was slow to begin.

Near the 900m., when RIPPA ROYALE (J. Taylor) obtained the lead, FAIRWEATHER (C. Small), which was following commenced to overrace and had to be steadied. SEATTLE ZIP (T. Treichel), which was following, had to be steadied as a consequence and shifted out and made contact with LA PIC (N. Tomizawa). LA PIC then shifted out, forcing FUHRMILION (K. Pope) wider on the track. FUHRMILION then was forced to race wide for the remainder of the event. FAIRWEATHER continued to race ungenerously for some distance.

LA PIC was held up for clear running on the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.

Race 7: Heineken Class 3 for C&G H'cap - 1300m.
1st - Kid Kaplan 2nd - Chasin' Tail 3rd - Medieval Time 4th - Positron

DANGEROUS BLETCH (T. Treichel) was slow to begin.

WHAT'S THE SCOOP (B. El-Issa) jumped outwards at the start, making contact with WESTGATE (P. Hammersley).

Shortly after the start, DEMOLIR (R. Goltz) and KID KAPLAN (J. Taylor) were tightened for room between WHAT'S THE SCOOP, which shifted in, and JYI'S PROSPECT (G. McKeon), which shifted out.

WHAT'S THE SCOOP was caught wide rounding the first turn and was obliged to race wide for the majority of the event.

Near the 450m., POSITRON (S. Galloway) was obliged to shift out to avoid the heels of WESTGATE (P. Hammersley), which was weakening, and made contact with JYI'S PROSPECT.

Near the 100m., CHASIN' TIL (S. Seamer) was placed in restricted room to the inside of DEMOLIR (R. Goltz), which was taken in by MEDIEVAL TIME (B. Stewart). In this incident, DEMOLIR had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MEDIEVAL TIME. B. Stewart, rider of MEDIEVAL TIME, was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

PRINCE PERCY (N. Evans) was inclined to lay in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

WESTGATE (P. Hammersley) bled from both nostrils during the event. A swab sample was taken from WESTGATE.
