Taikun Out of Carnivals After Bleeding Attack

The spring carnival for Bart Cummings' crack sprinter Taikun is over before it starts.

The lightly raced son of Anabaa has been banned for three months after suffering a bi-lateral bleeding attack at the Canterbury barrier trials today.

A seven time winner, Taikun was being set for feature sprint races over the upcoming Melbourne and Sydney spring carnivals. Instead he will now be forced to the paddock for a long break. He is not allowed to race for three months.

Taikun finished out of a place in the trial that was won by the Gary Portelli trained Bunkum.

Other winners at the trials included Cateclipse, Mr Ubiquitous and Port Peru.
