Walter Chasing Another Chipping Norton
Guy Walter finds himself in a familiar position going into Saturday's Chipping Norton Stakes at Warwick Farm where he will saddle up favourite Court's In Session. Walter has four Chipping Norton training trophies, all courtesy of his great campaigner Tie The Knot who started the dominant favourite each time with both punters and the general public. The 1600m feature is the only Group One race held at Sydney's outermost track and the locals, like Walter, hold it in high esteem.

"It has a great honour roll and history shows it is a race for good horses," Walter said."It does mean a lot to me because it is run at Warwick Farm and is very important for the area." Seven of the past nine Chipping Nortons have been won by horses trained on the track. The other stakes races on the program are also part of a proud tradition with the Liverpool City Cup a much sought after prize.

Tie The Knot's Chipping Nortons were run and won in familiar style with the big gelding coming from the rear to gather in his opponents in front of the main grandstand.Court's In Session cold not be more different from Tie The Knot. He pounds the turf up front and leaves it to the others to catch him. A year ago the only one who could was Grand Armee whose retirement left a gap that Court's In Session was expected to fill.First-up in the Expressway he gave every indication he was ready to assume the top position with a tough victory.

But the Apollo Stakes was a disaster. Court's In Session was swamped and ran sixth to Ike's Dream.Despite that, he was the $3.25 favourite when markets were posted on Thursday and Walter is cautiously optimistic. "Court's In Session is a horse who is hard on himself because of the way he races and tries so hard," Walter said.

"Every run he has is a gutbuster and the Expressway may have taken more out of him than we thought.
