Ambouli Promising Last Tycoon filly Ambouli made it four wins from as many starts when she took out the Super VOBIS Tasman Handicap at Flemington yesterday.

Ridden by Stephen Baster and starting the popular elect at $3.40, Ambouli was always in the leading bunch, coming from third at the 600m to win by 1½ lengths from the Mathew Ellerton trained King Charles ($10-$14) with half a length to third placed King's Farewell ($6.00-$6.50).

Ambouli Ambouli's trainer, Danny O'Brien was happy enough with today's win, but it came at the end of a frustrated Autumn campaign.

"We took her to Adelaide to run in the lead up to the Yallambee Stakes and she got sick and we had to pull the pin", he said.

Asked if he intended to take Ambouli back to Adelaide for races like the Goodwood Handicap, O'Brien thought it unlikely.

Ambouli "We've been very patient with her and she'll probably be at her best in the Spring", he said.

"There's a race here in two week's time which she will run in and then she'll go for a spell."

By Last Tycoon from the Marauding mare Djibouti, Ambouli was bred by her owner Geoff Bull who travelled from Western Australia with his wife Jenny to see her win. She is closely related to Natural Tycoon, who is a half brother to Djibouti from the Century mare Beautiful Century.

Natural Tycoon is by Monde Bleu, who is also by Last Tycoon.

With today's $45,500 first prize cheque, Ambouli takes her prizemoney over the $100,000 mark.
