Java Thoroughbreds in conjunction with Slade Farm are pleased to announce that Zenno Rob Roy, a son of World Champion sire Sunday Silence, will commence stud duties in the Southern Hemisphere this spring.

Studmasters Ross and Jo Mackie who are set to move to the former Millfied Stud a beautifully appointed 290 acre property in Matamata in late June are thrilled to have secured such an exciting stallion prospect for the New Zealand breeding industry.

Zenno Rob Roy - Sunday Silence ex Roamin Rachel by Mining is a 6 year old Bay/Brown horse with an exceptional race record. A triple Group One winner at 4 including the prestigious Japan Cup in 2004.

He is the first Group One winner of Sunday Silence to stand at stud in New Zealand.

Zenno Rob Roy had 20 lifetime starts for 7 wins and 10 placings was named Japanese Horse of the Year in 2004 after completing a hat-trick of Group One wins which included the Tenno Sho (2000m), Japan Cup (2400m)
and the Arima Kinen (2500m) all in the space of 57 days! He is also the winner of two Group 2 races at 3.

The winner of AUD $14.2 million (40 million yen), Zenno Rob Roy is the highest money earner to retire to stud since Cigar about ten years ago who then proved
to be infertile.

Jo Mackie says ' The vote of confidence from Shadai Stallion Station [owners] who are one of the world leaders in the thoroughbred industry is further good news for the industry here in New Zealand'.

With an impressive race record which saw Zenno Roby Roy race consistently in elite company starting in no less than 13 Group 1 races with 3 wins and numerous placings, this included a triple Group 1 effort as a 4 year old to running on at 5 with an attempt to complete back to back wins in the Japan Cup finishing a credible 3rd behind Alkaased(Kingmambo). Zenno Rob Roy was a determined and gutsy racehorse who showed incredible tenacity to fight right to the wire.

Timeform allocated Zenno Rob Roy a rating of 126 at both 4 and 5 years. Zenno Rob Roy was rated 5th in the world for leading horses on the turf in 2004.

Java Thoroughbreds are pleased to add such a high quality sire to their already existing line up of stallions which include G1 producing sire Sandtrap (Irish River), Occidental Tourist (Green Desert), Pupil (Danehill)and Black Tuxedo (Sunday Silence) who after popular demand is returning for 2006.

Of note to breeders is that Zenno Rob Roy is completely Northern Dancer free so the huge amount of mares with Northern Dancer blood in Australasia will prove to be an exciting cross to many breeders.

Zenno Rob Roy is currently standing his first season at stud in Japan and will arrive in New Zealand in August.

Zenno Rob Roy will be standing his first season at the fee of $ 15,000 + GST.

Shadai Stallion Station in conjunction with Java Thoroughbreds are also pleased to offer New Zealand breeders who send stakes winning mares or make multiple  bookings to the horse a discounted service fee.
