The Waikato Stud colours, fresh off a Group One win with Legs last Saturday in New Zealand, were back in the winner's stall in a feature race when the exciting filly Splashing Out won the $100,750 Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Guineas Day today.

Despite a relatively tough run, the daughter of O'Reilly was able to extend her unbeaten run to three in a performance that impressed connections and seasoned racegoers.

"Not many fillies go one, two, three and a Group Three at their third start so obviously she is well above average," a delighted winning trainer

"Things have come on very quick this spring, otherwise she would have been in the Thousand Guineas," O'Brien said.

The young Flemington horseman said the win was full of merit considering things didn't really go her way during the event.

"She traveled three wide without cover the whole way and she was still very strong right on the line."

What's next for Splashing Out?

"We'll have to see what's around for her for the rest of the spring - there is the Ascot Vale Stakes and the Great Western on Cup Day."

Splashing Out wasn't long in Australia when connections discovered she possessed above average ability and she could develop into something special.

"We've always really liked her and obviously you like them the more they keep winning."

"She's a natural little racehorse. She takes the initiative and finishes strongly, you can't ask for any more than that."

O'Brien said the Chittick family's Waikato Stud were an important client for the Flemington stable.

"They've been terrific supporters of our stable at Waikato Stud and they keep sending good horses here which makes my job very easy."

O'Brien has prepared three fillies, Glamour Puss, Breezy and Be Delicious to stakes race performances for the Chittick family and another, Starcraft's half sister Pin Up runs in a stakes race on Wednesday after a terrific mid week win at Werribee recently.

He is confident the unbeaten Splashing Out can continue on in the future. Longer distances look as though they will suit the daughter of O'Reilly.

"I think she will get to a mile. The way she travels, the way she settles and the way she kicks she could certainly head to a better race again."
