Kerrin McEvoyLeading international jockey Kerrin McEvoy was airlifted by helicopter to the Epworth Hospital after suffering serious head injuries after an horrific race fall at Flemington this afternoon.

McEvoy was riding the filly Miss Butterfield which appeared to clip heels of Vie and fall at the 250m mark in the first race, the Crown Trophy.

Vie also fell in the scrimmage but her jockey Dwayne Dunn escaped with severe bruising.

Dunn limped back to the mounting yard but McEvoy lay motionless on the track.

Jockey, Craig Williams, who witnessed the incident said "I felt sick."

The latest report is that that McEvoy is conscious.

Both horses appear to have escaped serious injury.
