Terang Prepares for Their 'Event of the Year'

The Sungold Milk Terang Cup on Sunday will offer something for everyone with a number of activities on course to compliment the first class racing on the day.

As part of the Feast of Country Racing promotion a special food and wine area will be established under the shady Terang trees to allow racegoers to sample some of the local delights.

Musical entertainment on the day will be provided by Rythmic Sax, while the big screen will be hosted by Rob Gaylard.

Other features on the day include fully air conditioned Sapphire Dining Room, with top class local catering provided, while the outdoor Sports Bar looks set to be well patronized by the younger generation, many having settled into local university life.

A free shuttle bus service from Terang, along with a special bus service from Warrnambool for only $10 return, will run on the day, with a special service timed to collect and deliver patrons to the train station, which will this week launch a special discount service - with a Melbourne/Geelong service arriving at 11:35am.

Cup Day also has many cup day traditions covered, with a number of hospitality marquees and Novotel St Kilda Road Fashions on the Field, with categories for ladies and children.  The very popular Crown Lager Happy Hour will run from 2:00pm - 3:00pm.

On the track, the feature race of the day the $60,000 Sungold Milk Terang Cup looks set to be a keenly contested affair, with 26 entries, including Colac Cup winner Forest Knight.  In all over $175,000 prizemoney will be distributed on the day, with nine races likely.

Club Chairman, Elizabeth English invited all members of the community to attend the feature raceday for the Club.  "Cup Day is a day where you can get dressed up and all get together to celebrate the community in which we live - racing has always formed a huge part of the social fabric of local communities and Terang Cup Day is no different to any other Australian town -  we are really looking forward to presenting a great day out and hope that as many people as possible can join us to make sure our efforts are rewarded and more importantly that the Terang Cup gets the recognition it deserves within the Country Racing scene", she said.

Limited places are still available in the Mix ‘N' Mingle Marquee at $110 per person which includes admission, marquee entry, reserved seating, food and refreshments throughout the afternoon.  Call 0438 680 939 to book your ticket today.
