Danny O'Brien's run with the stock of Lion Hunter continued at Seymour today when La Chasseuse scored a strong win in the Gaybao Handicap (1000m).

Ridden confidently by talented senior rider James Winks, La Chasseuse was too strong for an evenly matched field to win her third race at start number 10.

As well as La Chasseuse, O'Brien has trained other high class Lion Hunter gallopers Ferocity, Barbaricus, Chinchilla Rose, Sharna Myst and Leone Chiara.

Winks was delighted La Chasseuse was able to return to her best form this afternoon.

"On face value she was disappointing the other day," Winks said referring to her previous run when fourth at Sandown behind Goldfield Ashes.

"Danny (O'Brien) made me ride her aggressive today and it worked pretty well," he added.

He let the four-year-old mare rip approaching the turn and she was able to easily hold out the opposition in the run to the line.

"Today I made her skip around the turn, with her high cruising speed and she proved too good."

The win provided O'Brien with a small bit of consolation following a tendon injury to rising stable star Purrealist.

La Chasseuse's winning rider Winks is looking forward to Saturday when he partners Douro Valley in the Group One Turnbull Stakes.

Last start the tough performer snuck home to beat subsequent JRA Cup winner Maldivian in the Naturalism Stakes at Caulfield.

"I've got a nice ride on Douro Valley on Saturday and hopefully then the Caulfield Cup ride."

Douro Valley has been marked at $31 in the early Betstar market for the Turnbull behind El Segundo ($4) and Haradasun ($4.60)
