Tom Logan's win aboard Virvacity in the $100,000 Von Doussa Steeplechase (abt 3250m) signalled a changing of the guard among the cross-country jockeys.
The 24-year-old jockey upstaged the veterans like Craig Durden and Brett Scott to add the feature event to last year's Grand National Steeple triumph on Clearview Bay.
Virvacity showed tenacity to outstay Conzeal to win by 3/4-length with the hot favourite closing a length away in third place. Trainer Darren Weir completed a significant two-state double, also winning the Easter Cup at Caulfield with Like It Is.
The winner pulled up in great order and is likely to back up in Monday's $100,000 Yalumba Classic Hurdle (abt 3600m). Oakbank Racing Club officials said horses have attempted the unusual double but, it is believed, it has not been completed.
Locally-born jockey Bill Williams won the Ord Minnett Hurdle on the Eric Musgrove-trained The Coute's Way. Manila Heat upset hot favourite Flying Corkscrew in the marathon Scott Group Handicap (3600m).
Top Adelaide jockey Dwayne Dunn completed a winning treble that included the $65,000 Oakbank Stakes on The Chunkster.
