The three-time Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva has delivered a filly by Fusaichi Pegasus at Segenhoe Stud, Hunter Valley, early on Wednesday morning.

Scott Holcombe, who manages the Makybe operation in Victoria, reported that both mare and foal were doing extremely well and owner Tony Santic, who is currently away, was delighted to hear the news.

"Makybe Diva has taken to motherhood as a true professional. She has come through the foaling in fantastic order and we look forward to welcoming them home to Makybe in coming weeks," Holcombe said.

"Tony is currently on vacation and was anxiously awaiting the phone call. He was extremely happy to hear it was a filly, but more important, they are both fit and well."

Tony Santic confirmed last month Makybe Diva's first foal by Galileo would be part of the quality group of yearlings currently being prepared by the Makybe team on offer at the Sydney Easter Yearling Sales.

Makybe Diva will be served by Australia's leading stallion, Encosta De Lago, prior to returning to Makybe Victoria.
