Lightly-raced four-year-old Vigor will try to make it four wins a row when he tackles the Listed Lord Stakes at Caulfield on Boxing Day.
Trained by Danny O'Brien, Vigor completed a hat-trick of wins on Saturday when he showed his adaptability on a heavy track in the Johnstaff Projects Plate (1700m) at Flemington.
The winner of five of his 12 starts, the son of O'Reilly was the form horse going in to the race after wins over 1600 metres at Caulfield on October 15 and Flemington on November 8.
"He is a very nice horse and has answered our query about him handling the wet track," stable foreman Gerard Tesoriero said.
"Really our only concern was getting boxed in but Stephen (Baster) pushed out and made sure he had plenty of galloping room."
Vigor was dominant as he raced clear in the home straight to win by 2-1/4 lengths from Monsieur Feraud with Dr Nipandtuck 1-1/4 lengths away third.
"He went to the line very well but he is not a horse you can race week in week out," Tesoriero said.
"I think if we keep placing him right he can win a lot of nice races."
Vigor has always promised a lot and he finished sixth in the South Australian Derby (2500m) in April.
The Lord Stakes (1700m) will be his second attempt at a feature race and Tesoriero has no doubt that he is up to the task.
"He is a very tractable horse and gives himself every chance," he said.
