Imacruiser a Well Named Youngster

Imacruiser looked a youngster with some promise when he made a winning debut to his racetrack career in today's Advertiser Newspapers Plate (1100m) at Oakbank.

Prepared at Murray Bridge by Mick Huxtable, Imacruiser was sent out an equal second favourite on the strength of an eye catching trial effort at Morphettville.

"He did everything right in the trial and ran second in town," Huxtable said after the three length victory.

"He's a pretty tough little bloke," Huxtable added.

Imacruiser ($4.60) cruised home by three lengths over the speedy Morphettville visitor Kissable ($4.60).

Another six and three quarter lengths back in third place was the debuting local Gold Stag ($16).

While some horses behind the winner look coming winners, it was the impressive effort from Imacruiser that impressed the crowd.

"We bought him for $18,000 at the local (Magic Millions) Adelaide sale," Huxtable said.

"He looks a good buy and I think he will be better up in distance," he added.

Imacruiser is a graduate of Trevor Harrington's Oakside Park Stud and is by one of his two resident stallions Akhadan.

The two-year-old is one of two winners from the three time winning and city performed mare She's Posh.

A daughter of Bellotto, She's Posh is a half sister to the stakes performers Big Poppa Pump and Flying Chance.

Meanwhile, Mick "I've Been Everywhere Man" Whittle may not have been at Oakbank but he made his presence felt when Also won the McGuinness McDermott Foundation Handicap (2150m).

Backing up from his eleventh place in Monday's Group Two Adelaide Cup, Also raced away from his rivals in the straight for an emphatic win.

Whittle is at South Australia's most western racecourse at Penong - 70 kilometres west of Ceduna with a team at that town's annual non-TAB race meeting.

PICS - Jenny Barnes.
