Ivory Pegasus rocketed towards an Epsom Handicap berth with a blazing last-bound victory at Randwick.
The Robert Price-trained mare started at $17 and wasn't sighted until the last 200 metres of Saturday's MTA Pre Purchase Inspections Handicap (1200m).
Ridden by Corey Brown, the four-year-old edged out the gallant Don't Tell Pat ($19) by a neck with $3 favourite Handsupfordetroit a half-length away third.
Price was at Kembla Grange on the NSW south coast overseeing his runners there but his son Luke, who was also Ivory Pegasus' strapper, was delighted with the run.
"The Epsom is going to be her main go after seeing her come back like that," Luke Price said.
"We'll probably bring her back here in two weeks for the Tramway (Group Three, 1300m)."
The Group One Epsom Handicap (1600m) is at Randwick on October 3.
