This decision follows the successful installation of a quality sand surface at Callaghan Park and safety concerns following increased kangaroo numbers in and around Keppel Park, Yeppoon after the recent bushfires.

Queensland Racing's racing services manager, Paul Brennan said although the initial plan was to conduct all Rockhampton TAB meetings at Yeppoon during the Rockhampton upgrade, issues encountered at Tuesday's meeting have forced a re-think of that strategy.

"The Yeppoon Turf Club has provided exceptional support to the racing industry in recent months and their entire Committee, headed by President Greg Simpson, should be very proud of their achievements in transforming Keppel Park into a venue suitable for the broadcasting of TAB meetings," said Mr Brennan.

"Queensland Racing has considered a number of alternatives prior to arriving at our decision to conduct the TAB meetings on the sand track at Rockhampton and it has been determined that this option is the best outcome in the circumstances."

Rockhampton TAB meetings will take place on the sand track on the following dates:

• Tuesday, November 10, 2009

• Thursday, November 19, 2009

• Thursday, December 3, 2009

• Thursday, December 17, 2009

•  Tuesday, December 29, 2009

"The sand track has been utilised successfully for the conduct of non-TAB meetings on Saturdays, October 3 and 17, 2009, and the Rockhampton Jockey Club will be conducting its Melbourne Cup meeting on this surface next Tuesday," Brennan said

The $2,000 removed from prizemoney levels at Yeppoon to facilitate the transfer of these meetings has been reinstated and the revised prizemoney levels and distance alterations are listed below.
