Morphettville Parks Races Report
Jockey Carl Spry, who may call Adelaide home early in the new year, was associated with trainer John Hickmott in the three quarters of a length win of Southern Fortune $3-60 in the 2400 metre first race at Morphettville Parks on Saturday.

From the Brocco mare Capital Growth and sired by High Yield, Southern Fortune was well placed and beat the Craig Stewart prepared Chad Lever ridden Riverscape $5 making it a Murray Bridge training quinella. Our Raconteur $5 was a half head away third for Roslyn Day and Adrian Patterson.

The Tale of the Cat four year old gelding Magnificat $5, from Call Me Luv, an El Moxie mare, was the short half head winner of the 1950 metre second race.

Being under the care of Mick Huxtable and having the services of Huxtable's nephew Chad Lever Magnificat came from a mid field position and beat the one time leader True Emotions $4 for trainer Scott Trenowden and apprentice Claudia Lions. Two lengths away third was Full Plate Bard $11 for Steven Paynter and apprentice Libby Hopwood.

Favourite punters had their first collect for the day when the Phillip Stokes mentored Ben Claridge mount Republique $2.60 was the one and a quarter length winner of race three which was run over 1000 metres.

Sired by Exceed And Excel from the Woodman mare Forest Pearl Republique was well placed in the field of four and defeated the Ricky Moore mentored Chad Lever mount Wanaka Gold $4.20. The early leader Oakbank Rise was a farther half length away third for Shane Oxlade and Justin Potter.

The sire Catbird and the Umatilla mare Siren Miss were the parenting partnership of the three and three quarter length winner of the 1250 metre fourth race, Catapulted.

Starting the $1.45 public elect the Mark Kavanagh mentored Catapulted led throughout and gave both Kavanagh and jockey Simon Price the first leg of back to back wins.

Catapulted beat the Richard Jolly trained Ben Claridge ridden Goondi $6.50. Kelmo $26 was a short half head away third for Richard Wilson and Simon Price.

Catapulted will now be set for the listed 1400 metre $70,000 Christmas Handicap which will be run on the Morphettville Parks course on December 26.

The one and a quarter length win Reconcentrate $5.50 in the 1400 metre fifth event gave trainer Mark Kavanagh and horseman Simon Price the second leg of a double.

Being from Border Reverie, a Selkirk mare, the Reset sired Reconcentrate was not sighted until late in the event and went on to beat the Heather Lehmann cared for Ben Claridge ridden Miss Daea $13. Another long head away filling the minor placing was the $3.30 public elect The Gem for Richard Jolly and Libby Hopwood.

Favourite punters were not on good terms with themselves when Verco Road $22.80 was the short neck winner of the 1000 metre sixth race.

Prepared by Dion Koch and piloted by Matthew Neilson the Rubiton sired Verco Road, from the Tolomeo mare Bells Are Tolling, was near the rear of the field for the greater part of the journey taking the lead with fifty metres to go and beating the Robert Smerdon trained Casey Bruce ridden Global Warming $11. A farther short half head away third was Sipowicz $13 for the training partnership of Matthew Ellerton and Simon Zahra and jockey Adrian Patterson.

Now under the care of Karen Chisholm and guided by Dominic Tourneur Powderhorn Bay $13 was the half length winner of the 1550 metre final event.

Formerly trained at Mornington by Tony Noonan the Xaar sired Powderhorn Bay, from the Flying Spur mare French Braids, was well placed and went on to beat the $2.40 favourite, the David Hayes mentored Ben Claridge ridden Okuma. Jeunealistic $4 was another one and a quarter lengths away third for Ken Sweeney and Paul Gatt.
