Double Sandown Boost For Devon Park Stud

The draft of three attractive yearlings from Devon Park Stud heading to January's Magic Millions Yearling sale at the Gold Coast received a tremendous boost on Saturday.

Nine Tales and Sublime Girl turned in career best performances in stakes races and turned the attention to their half brothers who are heading north in January for Australia's favourite thoroughbred sale.

Nine Tales

The trio of horses from the Devon Park Stud property in Victoria are being prepared by Vinery Stud and are sure to have admirers when they go under the hammer at the Gold Coast.

Nine Tales notched his maiden stakes success when victorious in the Group Three Sandown Stakes on Saturday.

The son of Tale of the Cat found plenty in the run to the line to beat a quality line up of gallopers.

The win provided a timely boost to his yearling half brother by Rock of Gibraltar who's heading to January's Magic Millions Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast.

The colt, a lovely individual, is the latest yearling from the well related and top producing mare Silk.

A two-year-old winning and city performed daughter of Barathea, Silk is a half sister to the Flemington stakes winner Bislotto - the dam of former top sprinter Bel Danoro and Thousand Guineas placegetter Tanith.

Silk has also produced the stakes placed Silkyanna.

Meanwhile, Sublime Girl turned in an outstanding debut effort by running an eye catching third from back in the field in the listed Merson Cooper Stakes.

The two-year-old Encosta de Lago filly is the latest smart galloper produced by the lightly raced mare Running Smooth.

The Marscay mare, who has also thrown the talented seven time Melbourne winner Running Riot, is a half sister to two stakes winners - headed by Victoria Derby and Australian Guineas winner King's High.

A yearling half brother to Sublime Girl, by Elusive Quality, is also heading to the Gold Coast in January.

Rounding out the draft is a lovely colt by Dehere from the winning and city performed Marscay mare Marmoso.

His is the family of the stakes winners including Unworldly, Gordo, Vignor, Seances, Suria, Flaming Heart and Suspicion.

The 2010 Magic Millions Yearling Sale will kick away with session one on January 6.
