Tallow Highlights A Magic Day At Warwick Farm
Tallow raced into contention for the $1 million Conrad Jupiters Magic Millions 3YO Trophy (1400m) at the Gold Coast in January with a barnstorming win in the Forbes Handicap (1100m) at Warwick Farm today.

A daughter of red hot international sire Street Cry, Tallow was sent out one of the popular elects and she gave her supporters plenty to cheer about when she race home impressively.

Tallow

The lightly raced three-year-old filly, trained by Anthony Cummings, was purchased for just $30,000 from the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Today's race was her first as a three-year-old. Last preparation she ran twice, for two thirds - one in the listed Keith Mackay Quality when beaten just over a length.

Cummings has no doubt the John Singleton bargain buy has plenty of ability and he confirmed a Gold Coast trip was booked in.

"She has started to get her act together now and she has a very bright future in front of her I'd say," Cummings said.

"She is eligible for the Magic Millions (Trophy) and there is where she is heading," he added.

Winning rider Glyn Schofield was impressed with how the filly hit the line after covering extra ground during the race.

"She is a beautiful filly and she gave me a very impressive feel," Schofield commented.

"Today might have been a little sharp for her and when she gets over a trip it will be more to her liking."

At the post Tallow ($3.30) raced away to beat the favourite Ready Miss ($2.40 fav) by a length.

Another nose back in third place was the Corey Brown mount Lady Gazerra ($61).

A half sister to Tallow (Lot 1034), by former champion international galloper Grandera, will go under the hammer at January's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Consigned by the Darling Downs based Millbrook operation, the filly is the latest yearling from the 100% winner producer African Queen.

A daughter of Lion Hunter, African Queen won five races up to 1300 metres and was placed in Brisbane on two occasions.

As well as Tallow, she is the dam of the city winner Sharjah (E Dubai) - a winner of two races to date, up to 1350 metres.

Other impressive Magic Millions winners on the card included the Guy Walter trained Dane Fontaine and Graeme Rogerson's Relentless Lad.

Dane Fontaine, a $75,000 purchase from the 2006 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale, finished too well for her rivals in the Homestead Handicap (2400m).

Dane Fontaine

A five-year-old mare by Danehill Dancer, Dane Fontaine found enough when called upon by Hugh Bowman to get up and beat Tages.

Dane Fontaine is one of four city winners from the stakes performed Laudham Star mare Laudham Mist - a Melbourne and Sydney winner.

Meanwhile, Relentless Lad notched his third career win when he cruised to a length and a quarter win in the Copeland Handicap (1600m).

A smart four-year-old gelded son of Anabaa, Relentless Lad started at $5 with bookies and provided Melbourne Cup winning jockey Corey Brown with yet another success.

Relentless Lad is one of three winners, from three to race, for his dam, the two-year-old winning Zabeel mare Sahayb.

Relentless Lad

From the family of Group One winners Burst, Victory Prince and Bush Padre, Relentless Lad was purchased for $140,000 from the 2007 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale.

And Moonlight Music provided her half brother heading to the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale with a boost when she won the Newbridge Handicap (1400m) on the same card.

Vinery Stud are preparing the half brother - a colt by Testa Rossa catalogued as Lot 273 - for January's famous sale.

The youngster, who is also a half brother to the stakes performed Magic Millions graduate Miss Shamardal, is BOBS eligible.
