Jet Spur Trial Double Indicates More Early Success
Lightly raced very smart Flying Spur sprinter Jet Spur had his prospects of being one of the leading juvenile sires of 2009-10 with his first crop enhanced when two of his yet to be raced daughters won trials at the Gold Coast on December 1.

Both graduates of Magic Millions yearling sales at the Gold Coast, they are the Helen Page trained Power of Ed, a product of a mare bred on a brilliant cross of Iglesia and a Rory's Jester winner, and the Bryan Guy prepared Jenelle, produce of a Hennessy winner.

The Glenlogan Park stud located Jet Spur has already made an impact with his early runners. They include Slice and Dice (won by six lengths Eagle Farm), Count Spur (a debut nose second at the Gold Coast), Fanciful (a long head second at Townsville at only outing) and Phoebe for Me (second of 11first up Rockhampton meeting Yeppoon).

Jet Spur's early bold showing as a sire adds to the appeal of the 22 lots he has booked into the Magic Millions yearling sale in January. It is a sale that also includes15 by one of the most consistently successful high level sires in Queensland, the Lyndhurst stud based Sequalo, the sire of the other juvenile trial winner at the Gold Coast last week, Sequano.

A winner of his heat by three lengths and 1.5 lengths, the Alan Bailey trained Sequano was one of the dearest lots at the inaugural Magic Millions QTIS 600 yearling sale, being sold for $80,000 on behalf of his breeders, Ramsey Pastoral Company, Turangga stud, Scone.Turangga stud had a consignment of five lots in that sale, eligible as they were all by Queensland sires.

Sequano could soon add to Sequalo's scoreboard, one that currently stands at over 400 winners of 1370 races and $22,250,000.

It was added to on Saturday when his 5-year-old gelded son Burdekin Blues again showed he was one of the most brilliant horses in Australia in recording a dominating front running win in the $200,000 George Moore Stakes (1200m) at Doomben.

Now winner of ten of 17 starts and earner of $587,000, Burdekin Blues cost his trainer Barry Baldwin $32,000 at Gold Coast yearling sales. It is a pity he is not having a crack at next week's Hong Kong International Sprint, a race which has been won twice by another Queensland bred sprinter, Falvelon.
