Champion horsewoman Gai Waterhouse is set for a very Merry Christmas after Judicial won The Integra Handicap (1250m) giving the Randwick conditioner three winners on Canterbury's mid week card this afternoon. Having won back to back races with Seventh Reason and Stratofortress, Waterhouse was beaming in the winner's stall as her latest winner returned to scale. "This is a lovely colt," Waterhouse said of Judicial. "A lot of people said why do you keep him a colt - and why wouldn't I, he has just a lovely temperament." Judicial was purchased by Denise Martin's Star Thoroughbreds for $120,000 from the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale. "Denise has gone to Tassie for Christmas with the family and it's great to win for all of the owners - plenty of them are here today - it's fantastic." Judicial has won two of his three starts - on the other occasion he was out of play early in the race in the Group Three Up and Coming Stakes. This time around Judicial ($3) cruise to the post three part of a length clear of Prince of Hearts ($7), while blue blooded colt Metallurgical ($2.80 fav) was another half neck back. "Nash rode him a treat," Waterhouse said. "He saw when he first jumped that he was going to be taken on by the others. "It was a great win. He's done everything right and he's on the right track." Nash Rawiller, like Waterhouse, has a good opinion of Judicial and he's confident that he can continue his rise through the grades. "He's a lovely horse," the star rider pointed out. "It's terrific with the connections here it's great just before Xmas to win a race like this today." "He travelled really well. Gai was pretty adamant to lead, I tried my best but I didn't want to get into a duel early." "He's got plenty of ticker and he showed that today," Rawiller summed up. Judicial, by former top class Magic Millions graduate Not a Single Doubt, is the first foal to race for the lightly raced Octagonal mare Vitale Beauty. Vitale Beauty is a half sister to the six time winning and stakes placed Brilliant Jewel and hails from the family of Vionnet, Academe, Cheverny, Fashion News and La Chasseuse. Meanwhile, a full sister to Fabella, an impressive winner on the same Canterbury card, will go under the hammer at the upcoming Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale. The Magic Albert filly, catalogued as lot 762, is a member of a quality packed draft from Yarraman Park Stud.
