McLoaded's win in the $70,000 BC3 Thoroughbred Plate (1000m) at Caulfield over the weekend draws attention to his sire Racer's Edge. We don't hear a lot about Racer's Edge. He is one of those quite achievers still siring winners but not receiving the credit he deserves. He was a good racehorse - by far the best performed son of Rory's Jester to race - yet has so often been bypassed by breeders. From 20 starts he was in the money 14 times winning eight races. All were at Black Type level. He was a good two-year-old being placed in the Golden Slipper Stakes and the Blue Diamond Stakes while training on to win at weight-for-age three times. Here we a horse virtually at our doorstep yet he is so often over looked plus his service fee has always been reasonable. He can get progeny to sprint and stay and is among the most versatile sires currently in service. Racer's Edge is from the sound producing mare God's Girl. She left nine foals to race and all were winners bar one. His pedigree illustrates an interesting nicking pattern. He is by Rory's Jester from a daughter of God's Walk. Happy Giggle is also by Rory's Jester from a grand daughter of Gods Walk both pedigrees have a strong speed influence. Racer's Edge was foaled in 1991 his progeny earnings exceed $13 million he is still going strong at Chatswood Stud Seymour.
