Racing NSW Stewards are advising punters that three-year-old colt Metric Mile, who is entered to run on Saturday at Rosehill this Saturday, has had his name changed. Metric Mile was previously known as Rowley Mile and contested a barrier trial under his former name. Metric Mile, who is owned by a syndicate led by Gerry Harvey, was also a late scratching from Newcastle on Boxing Day under his old name. It is believed the name of the horse was changed to avoid confusion with the feature race held at Hawkesbury annually. Trained by Tim Martin, Metric Mile will contest the third race, $70,000 $250k Jackpot Big 6 Handicap (1400m) with Tye Angland in the saddle. Metric Mile is by Encosta De Lago out of Nassipour mare Platonic who won the 1998 $75,000 Queensland St. Leger (2900m) eligible for those aged between three and five. Details of his sole trial performance are detailed below: Metric Mile (2006) Finished 7th (of 8) to Full Power in Warwick Farm 3YO C&G's barrier trial (810m) Mon 14 Dec '09 (Dean Greville) Time: 47.9secs (Track: Good)
