Every time he walks out of the jockeys' room, comeback hoop Jason Holder becomes a little more confident.

Holder has only been back riding for three months since he suffered life-threatening injuries in a horrific race fall at Eagle Farm on January 14.

A week before the fall Holder was the toast of Australian racing after he rode Phelan Ready to victory in the Magic Millions on the Gold Coast and he is confident he can notch another big-race winner in the Goldmarket at the same venue on Friday.

Holder will partner veteran sprinter Daunting Lad in the Listed $100,000 Goldmarket Handicap (1300m) and the multiple Group One-winning rider said his timing and confidence was back to where it was before the fall.

"Everyone knows racing is a confidence sport and my game plan is back," Holder said.

"For a while after I came back I was leaving the races a bit frustrated and thinking was it all worth it but as soon as I rode a few winners it all changed for me.

"The frustration was hard to deal with but I am motivated by different things now.

"I love riding and I feel good when I leave the races knowing that I did the very best I could."

Holder has ridden Daunting Lad at his past two runs and is confident the combination of barrier one and a light weight of 53kg is enough to help the eight-year-old entire return to the winner's circle for the first time since February 2008.

"I am very happy to be riding him. He is going really well and is a nice chance," Holder said.

"His last run was really good and I will be able to give him a good run off the good barrier.

"At his best, he is right up there with these horses and he will be in it for a long way."

Daunting Lad carried 55kg last start when he ran home well to finish third, beaten just over a length, to Rasmussen over 1200m at Eagle Farm on December 12.
