Greg
Irvine at 25 years of age is far from a rookie in the world of horse
racing.
From a young age the former South Australian has been heavily involved
in all aspects of the industry.
He first attended race meetings back when just old enough to walk at his
home town of Ceduna on South Australia's far west coast.
During his time in Ceduna, Greg spent many years working as a strapper
for a leading local stable and regularly travelled hundreds of
kilometres around the state following the sport he loved.
From the age of 14, Greg's work began appearing in the West Coast
Sentinel as well as associate publications including the Port
Lincoln Times and Eyre Peninsula Tribune.
After successfully finishing his school Greg moved to Adelaide where he
further enhanced his growing reputation as he continued to work through
the ranks. During his time in Adelaide he formed a healthy link with the
South Australian Thoroughbred Breeders. He still compiles work for the
association for their website and various publications.
Greg's passion is horse racing and he's followed his dreams he first had
as a young child in primary school - writing up summaries of his days at
the races and football.
A valuable member of the Cyberhorse team for about five years, Greg is
sought out by a number of leading industry figures to compile reports,
press releases and general racing and breeding material.
In more recent times Greg has won two important awards. In 2002 he won
one of the inaugural awards at the Aushorse Australian Thoroughbred
Media Awards in Sydney. A year later he backed up to win one of five
categories of the Melbourne Racing Club's Spring Carnival Media Awards.
