Stewards permitted S Ridler to be substituted as the rider of NOCH ON ICE as B Huppatz failed to arrive on course in time to weight out.
P Shiers, rider of TAFFETA’S BEST was permitted to ride ½ kilogram overweight as there was no other senior rider available. P Shiers stated that he had the flu this week and that hindered his effects to lose weight. P Shiers was notified that if he was to be overweight in the future he may be penalised.
On jumping away EARTH GOLD and TAFFETA’S BEST came together.
Near the 1000 metres TAFFETA’S BEST was tightened for room by EARTH GOLD (P Denton) which shifted in. P Shiers, rider of TAFFETA’S BEST stated that he elected to restrain his mount as he did not have the pace to be up in the lead. Stewards accepted the evidence however notified P Denton that he must ensure he is 2 lengths clear when shifting ground in future

When the gates opened SPAKATAK bounded and then threw its head up. It was then bumped by BEANIE which shifted in. After this it took some strides for SPAKATAK to muster speed.

RACE THREE CLASS 3 HCP – 15OO M
After being placed in the barriers CALMER KARMA reared and became caught in the barriers. Acting on veterinary advice stewards ordered the withdrawal of CALMER KARMA at 3.28pm. Subsequent to the event stewards ordered all monies wagered on CALMER KARMA to be refunded and the following betting deductions. All monies wagered prior to the withdrawal of CALMER KARMA to be paid as follows:- for the win, face value of the ticket less 27 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 25 cents in the dollar.
Near the 100 metres GOLD HAWK shifted out and bumped MURPHY’S PRIZE which was taking a tight run on it’s outside. When bumped, the saddle on MURPHY’S PRIZE slipped.
Shortly after the winning post S Hillebrand (a) was dislodged from MURPHY’S PRIZE due to his saddle shifting.
Subsequent to the event the clubs veterinary surgeon inspected VOLCANIC PEARL which performed poorly and reported that he could find no apparent abnormality.

On jumping away SAVNECT shifted out and took BELLO DIVISTA out onto RUXTON and BLETCHINGLY’S BEST.

In the middle stages of the race BEAU MASTER was held up for a clear run between I DO THEE WED and ORIENTAL TREASURE.

As D Bates was indisposed stewards permitted M Abe (a) to replace him as the rider of KISSING DOWN.
When the gates opened KISSING DOWN threw its head up and jumped away awkwardly. After jumping away AMBERLIGHT shifted out onto WINABULL which then shifted further hampering KISSING DOWN.
Rounding the turn SIR ACADEMY had a tendency to lay out.
Over the concluding stages LEICA CUMNOCK hung in badly and appeared to resent the whip.
