Race 1 – class b hcP (1) - 1000 metres:
Mr B Merrall, trainer of SEABISC was questioned in relation to his failure to produce a clearance for that gelding which last raced interstate (AR59B(b)). Acting on Mr Merrall’s assurance that SEABISC was clear of any embargo stewards permitted the gelding to race.
When the gates opened, CHEESECAKE and SEABISC were slow into stride.
Rounding the home turn VLTAVA lost his footing and slipped on an area of damp surface on the track, resulting in that gelding almost falling. DRYMAHI and SEABISC also slipped on the same area of the track. After the race B Davis (a), rider of VLTAVA advised stewards he did not wish to ride for the remainder of the day as in his opinion the track was unsafe rounding the home turn. S Ridler, rider of DRYMAHI also expressed his opinion that the track during this race was unsafe rounding the home turn. Following consultation with the other riders and an inspection of the track, stewards advised jockeys to take additional care for the remainder of the meeting and to give each other extra room.

Just after the start LITTLE UMA moved out and bumped BYBROCCO.

Race 3 – class 2 hcp - 1300 metres:
Rounding the first turn the saddle on FEEL THE PRESSURE (M Abe (a)) slipped causing that gelding to move in onto SQUEAKY CLEAN (T Perry).
On the home turn MOONLIGHT EXPRESS shifted out and rounded the turn very widely.
During the event DESERT REEF lost his near fore plate.

Race 5 – open hcp - 1300 metres:
As the rider of GALVESTON STORM (S Hillebrand (a)), was not clear to shift in after attempting to reach the lead before the first turn, that gelding was forced to race wide and lost considerable ground.
While returning to scale, the saddle on ACELA slipped causing the rider, M Abe (a) to be dislodged.
