Race 1 – MAIDEN S/W - 1300 metres:
When the gates opened CENTRE JEWEL, which was restless in the barriers missed the start by several lengths.
Montecatini, which was also restless in the barriers, was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start SPADES was tightened for room between POLAND and STUD KING, both of which shifted in.

Race 2 – CLASS 3 HCP - 1300 metres:
On jumping away DESERT REEF and SPAKATAK came together due to SPAKATAK shifting.
Rounding the turn and in the early part of the straight SUPER SLIDER had a tendency to hang out.
P Shiers rider of VALIANT LAD was reprimanded for unnecessary use of the whip (AR137A (1)) on that gelding when it was out of contention and showing no response.

Race 3 – CLASS 2 HCP - 1100 metres:
After being placed in the barriers RUBYRULE broke through the front gates.
When the gates opened RUBYRULE stood flat footed and lost considerable ground.
Shortly after the start CANNY’S CHOICE had to be eased when tightened for room between LUNCH CLUB and CRAZY FITZ.
During the race TWENTYONE GUN had a tendency to hang out.
In the straight RUBYRULE raced greenly and tended to shift in which prevented its rider C Moon from riding the gelding out in his normal manner.
During the event THE SNARLING DOG lost both front plates and EXTRAORDINARY lost its near fore plate.

Race 4 – BUNTINE HCP - 1900 metres:
At the entrance to the straight BAILS and MY ADVICE, which were racing tight on the inside of OLD SWAMPY, came together and bumped on several occasions.

Race 5 – SPEC COND HCP - 1000 metres:
Mr R Severino, trainer of ARNSIDE was fined $50 for presenting that gelding with incorrect gear (AR140(a)).
Near the 400 metres TERM had to be eased off the heels of GAMERA which rolled out.
Subsequent to the event the clubs veterinary surgeon reported that ADAMARTAIG had blood in its offside nostril.

Race 6 – NT DERBY - 2000 metres:
Mr V Oldfield, trainer of SHREWD ACE, SANDOVER, SIRRAJA and DANCING SCENE was fined $100 for presenting those horses late on course (NT128A).
The following trainers were fined $50 each for presenting their horse late in the mounting yard;

On jumping away DANCING SCENE knuckled.
Rounding the first turn SANDOVER was tightened for room and had to be checked between SIRRAJA and SHREWD ACE which shifted out on the turn.
The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected SANDOVER subsequent to the event and reported that the gelding was lame in the off foreleg.

Race 7 – CLASS 5 HCP - 1100 metres:
Rounding the turn MANDATE had a tendency to lay out and had to be restrained as a result.
Near the 650 metres COOLGARDIE shifted out abruptly across the heels of ANTIOPE.
Approaching the winning post ANTIOPE had to be eased off the hells of COUSY (W Davis) which rolled out. W Davis was notified that in similar circumstances in future he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount.
Prior to correct weight being declared, Ms M Boothby, trainer of ANTIOPE requested to view the stewards patrol film of the race approaching the winning post.
The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected WINABULL subsequent to the event and reported that the gelding was lame in the near fore leg.
Subsequent to the event the clubs veterinary surgeon inspected COUSY and reported that the gelding was lame in the near fore leg.
1st COUSY 2nd COOLGARDIE 3rd ANTIOPE
Race 8 – SPEC COND HCP - 1300 metres:
Mr N Connor, trainer of CELTIC DANE was fined $50 for presenting that gelding with incorrect gear (AR140(a)).
Near the 1200 metres STUBBS was taken in by CELTIC DANE which was taken in by KARSHIM.
Subsequent to the event the clubs veterinary surgeon inspected ACELA which performed below expectations and reported that he could find no apparent abnormality. A swab sample was taken from ACELA.
